Need For Speed World is the free, online version of the hugely popular arcade style racing game franchise. The game is a massively multi-player open world game, with which you can interact and race with many other players from around the planet.
Need For Speed World has RPG style levelling up and improved cars to unlock. The game lets you add new friends to enter contests or compete against each other in races.
The game does require you to have a user account to start playing. As soon as you set-up your account you can begin with creating a driver profile and choose your first car from an initial selection. As with other arcade role playing games, you need to start completing objectives; winning races, to gain experience points. As you start levelling up, you’ll find better cars to buy.
Need For Speed World has quite intuitive gameplay, but the arcade-style handling does mean that it is not really realistic or accurate. There are some fun things you can do in the game, such as take turns at full speed or drift. You can also boost the speed of your car to force opponents out of the way.
Overall, the arcade style is great fun to play, albeit not very realistic. The graphics are quite smooth and the gameplay is very good for an MMOG. The downside is that the other players in free mode are only shown as ghosts and you can drive through them.
