uTorrent for Mac

uTorrent is one of the world's most popular torrent clients. It's full of useful features such as scheduling, bandwidth prioritization and compatibility with BitComet-Mainline DHT. uTorrent also supports peer exchange and the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Vuze / Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above and BitComet 0.63 and above). Unlike many other torrent clients available, uTorrent does not eat away at valuable system resources; in fact, the program typically runs on approx. 6MB of memory. uTorrent is contained within a single executable file, smaller than 1 MB. Keynote

Keynote is an easy to use and yet very powerful presentation software, designed by Apple. Apple iWork

Apple iWork is a suite of applications for office work that is compatible with both Apple iOS and OSX platforms. The office suite comprises of the application Keynote; a program used to make presentations, Pages; an application used for creating documents, and the spreadsheet application Numbers. The iWork suite of applications is thought to be made with the prosumer market in mind with simplified features found in Microsoft Office for Mac, or the open source Libre Office software. The iWork applications also have touch screen support and compatibility with the iCloud software. Common Components Products in the iWork suite of applications have some common components which come from them sharing a similar application programming interfaces like Cocoa and other APIs. Among these common APIs are the multi-lingual spell checker application used in Safari and Mail. Other common design features include the color picker, grammar checking system, and the find/replace application. Also common among all iWork applications is the underlying document called the ‘canvas’ which is a generic container type of document that is used to provide a layout and storage mechanism in the Apple applications. Each application in the Apple iWork suite uses the canvas as a background and then places its own components on it to create a different program. In the Pages application for instance, the large text box is the central feature in the application when it is first opened, but this can then be altered by the user in any way they like. Similarly in Numbers, the spreadsheet application, the app opens with a grid of cells like a typical spreadsheet but the user again has a lot of freedom to play around with the data on the canvas. The iwork model is thought to be based on the earlier Apple designed OpenDoc which had a similar underlying document engine, along with a single on-disk format.

Soundflower

Soundflower is a MacOSX* system extension designed for inter-app audio routing (it allows apps to pass audio to other apps). The app has been designed to be very easy to use; it operates as an audio device, thereby allowing any audio app to send and receive audio with no other support required. For example; if you need an app to interact with another via the soundcard, simply select Soundflower as the output device in the first app and the same as the input device in the second app. Soundflower is an effective, free audio routing solution that has some cool features such as the ability to allow different apps to access the soundcard simultaneously. It also supports 2 and 16 channel audio. The downside is that some may find Soundflower tricky to configure at first. *OS X 10.5.8+ is required to run Soundflower.

Numbers

Numbers is a gorgeous spreadsheet package that rivals Microsoft's Excel software. As you would expect from Apple, the software is beautifully designed with a clean and crisp interface. For users who are looking for a simpler alternative to Excel, look no further. Numbers has over 30 templates and over 250 powerful functions, to help you in creating better spreadsheets. You can use Drag and drop to add photos and charts in your spreadsheets. You can create 2D and 3D charts. There is also enhanced Microsoft Excel functionality to assist in importing data from Excel. Numbers has iCloud integration to assist you in working from your Mac, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and iCloud.com. You can share your work using links to Mail, Messages, Twitter or Facebook. Numbers can be exported using CSV, PDF and Microsoft Excel format.

CCleaner for Mac

While CCleaner has been the most popular PC maintenance tool for over a decade, it is relatively new to the Mac platform. Piriform’s CCleaner is a quick and easy to use program which makes your Mac faster and more secure. Jaspersoft Studio For Mac

Jaspersoft Studio For Mac is the eclipse-based report designer for JasperReports and JasperReports Server. It is open source and free to use. With it, you can create sophisticated layouts that contain charts, images, sub-reports, crosstabs etc. Jaspersoft Studio For Mac allows you to access your data through JDBC, TableModels, JavaBeans, XML, Hibernate, CSV, and custom sources. You can then publish your reports as PDF, RTF, XML, XLS, CSV, HTML, XHTML, text, DOCX, or OpenOffice. Jaspersoft Studio For Mac was designed with a single goal in mind; to provide users with the features from Jaspersoft Report Editor, available as a port of iReport Designer. As Jaspersoft Studio For Mac has its foundations built upon the Eclipse platform, it is a more complete solution that allows users to extend its capabilities and functionality. Key features include: Repository explorer. Outline view. Report editing Area. Problems view. Designer palette. Properties view. Project explorer. Report State summary. Jaspersoft Studio For Mac has a multi-tab editor to work with. There are three different tabs: Design is the main tab selected when you open a report file and it allows you to graphically create your report. Source contains the JRXML source code for your report. Preview lets you run the report preview after having selected a data source and output format. Jaspersoft Studio For Mac is a comprehensive tool that offers a different perspective from that of iReport Designer. For those of you who have worked with Eclipse, you will be familiar with the user interface, while to new users the layout of the shown elements will appear somewhat different but the functionality will remain. Vivaldi for Mac

Vivaldi for Mac is a new, feature rich web browser that combines an Opera-like interface with a Chromium open-source platform. Vivaldi for Mac is very similar to the Opera browser in many ways. There are some pretty cool features which are nice, like the interface which fades colours to match the dominant colour on the page, as you navigate between sites. Aside form the snazzy effects, the browser has clearly been designed with power users in mind, as the Quick Commands tool shows. This helps the user to search or run commands in much the similar manner to OS X’s Spotlight feature. Vivaldi for Mac supports browsing with mouse gestures, and the ever-familiar 'speed dial' interface, which shows your favourite tabs on the new tab page is also a great, albeit old, feature that is present in this new web browser. Key Features include: Quick Commands. Tab Stacks. Notes. Adaptive Interface. Spatial Navigation. The layout of Vivaldi for Mac looks great too. Inside the left toolbar is the bookmarks menu, the (upcoming) Vivaldi Mail feature, a Contacts list, the Downloads menu and a Notes tool. There is a lot housed here, however the interface manages not to feel at all cluttered. Items are placed in logical places and are all kept small and out the way giving you a fresh, clean feel. Overall, Vivaldi for Mac has a crisp, sharp-edged interface, which uses simple but effective fonts and icons. It is clearly aimed at power users as the different features and tools show. It is relatively small (for a browser) and is not that hard on system resources. If you feel like a change from Chrome, Safari or Opera then why not check it out!
