DVD Flick is a great, free utility that can read various video files and convert them to DVD format, which can be burned to DVD. This can then be played on any standalone DVD player, Media Center or Home Cinema.
There are a number of useful tools included in DVD Flick, including the ability to add additional custom audio tracks, and subtitles as well as create a menu for easier navigation. DVD Flick supports over 45 file formats, 60 video codecs, and 40 audio codecs. When you have created a menu and added subtitles (if required) you can then burn your project to disc after encoding.
DVD Flick can also read AviSynth scripts, which allow you to do advanced post processing of images using a powerful scripting language. You will need to have AviSynth installed in order to use its functionality in DVD Flick.
