Mozilla Thunderbird makes e-mailing safer, faster, and easier with features such as intelligent spam filters, a built-in RSS reader, and quick search. Thunderbird was designed to prevent viruses and to stop junk mail.
Thunderbird includes tabbed e-mail, new search tools and indexing, smart folders, support for Firefox, a simplified setup wizard and robust junk protections that include phishing and spam filters.

Thunderbird has junk mail tools that have been updated to stay ahead of spam and features anti-phishing protection.
An option under "Tools > Options, Advanced, General" now allows to select whether date/time display will follow the application locale (adjusted by operating system's format settings for that locale) or the locale selected in the operating system's regional settings. In other words, an US English Thunderbird can use, for example, German formats.
IMAP: When after sending a message storing that sent message fails, the message can now be stored in a local folder.
When messages are composed in paragraph format, "body text" and split mail quotes are converted to paragraphs when pressing the enter key.
Thunderbird now uses the latest Mozilla technology based on Rust for encoding messages.
