Easy and Fast Image Resizer for Windows

Image Resizer for Windows is an app that lets users resize images directly from Windows Explorer. A tiny app makes it convenient to resize images for Windows and works as an extension in Windows Explorer. You can resize photos according to default sizes or customise as per the size requirements. It is a great solution to modify images.

How do people use Image Resizer for Windows?

The main purpose of the image resizer is to take pictures through Windows Explorer and use the app to resize and save them as edited, resized images. The app is a shell extension and to use Image Resizer, you simply have to right-click on the image. The menu will shows the programme, which you can then use to edit the image. The dialogue window offers a number of resizing alternatives, including default sizes (small, medium, large) or customizable sizes according to pixels, percentages, centimetres, or inches.

What are some of the best reasons to get Image Resizer for Windows?

One of the best reasons to get Image Resizer for Windows is its easy-to-use and lightweight characteristics, working as an extra feature on Explorer. It’s intuitive and functional and with just a few clicks, you can get the desired image sizes.

For the purpose of a marketing or social media communication, larger sizes and dimensions can help customise the image exactly according to what sits best with the social media site. For instance, the image dimensions for a Facebook post are different from those for Pinterest. With Image Resizer, you get the images you need for the desired social media platform.

What are the disadvantages of using Image Resizer?

While image resizer is a great tool, the biggest drawback is that it only works on Windows Explorer. This restricts its use tremendously and does not help the fact that usage is already low due to Windows Explorer not being the most commonly set default browser.

The functions offered by  Image Resizer are also easily available in image editing apps on mobile phones or in any image editor. For instance, you can use programmes like Photoshop or Instagram, or any inbuilt image cropping like Screen capture to achieve the same results. Like many Microsoft products, this is also not aesthetic and lacks any design elements to make the programme somewhat attractive. Then, it's worth highlighting that it is not supported by iOS or Android devices.

Another big disadvantage of Image Resizer is Windows Powertoy. It requires a Windows starter pack, without which the programme cannot be used. It is restrictive and involves too many bottle-necks to access the app; often, other alternatives can do the job just well.

What are the alternatives?

Some alternatives to Image Resizer for Windows include XnConvert, Fastone Photo Resizer, Free Picture Resizer, XnShell, Image Tuner, Filestar, Converscreen, amongst many others. Programmes like XnCovert are available across various operating systems including Android, iOS, Linux, and support a number of file formats for resizing. Compared to Image Resizer for Windows, programmes like Photo Zoom Pro, Photo Bulk, Image Tuner, etc., are a lot more sophisticated and include a number of other features like compressing and editing images as well.

What’s the final verdict on Image Resizer for Windows?

The programme is a lightweight application that can be added as an extension to the Window Explorer. Although a Microsoft Powertoy, Image Resizer is restricted to Windows users with a starter pack.

Other alternatives like XnConvert, Image Tuner, etc. have many more attractive and functional features for images. It is best to consider other options that offer more in terms of aesthetics and characteristics.
