Calibre is a complete e-book library manager that lets you totally organize your collection. With Calibre you can convert your books to multiple formats, and then sync with all of your devices.


  • Library management. Calibre keeps things orderly by creating single entries for books, which contain multiple formats. Calibre also adds tags and comments for better searching.
  • Format conversion. Calibre's varied conversion options give you support for a wide variety of file formats.
  • File syncing. Calibre's device drivers will support all of the top devices and e- readers.

Overall, Calibre is a free and open source e-book library management application which covers all aspects of library management, e-book conversion, e-book syncing, e-book viewing and e-book editing for the major e-book formats. The user interface is easy to understand and the application is relatively lightweight.

Bulk metadata edit dialog: Add an action to set metadata from e-book files.
Server: Add an option to control the number of books displayed per page in the browser (Preferences->Sharing over the net->Advanced).
DOCX Output: Add an option to preserve the cover aspect ratio in the output document.
Book details panel: An option to control the layout of the panel in 'Narrow' mode (Preferences->Look & feel->Book details).
If the --start-in-tray option is specified, create a tray icon even if the configuration option to enable tray icons is off.
Bug fixes:
Possible fix for issue with pinning calibre to taskbar on windows. Note that as an unfortunate side-effect, you will have to unpin and re-pin calibre to the taskbar after updating.
DOCX Output: Fix text immediately after a hidden tag not being included.
Fix a regression that broke fetching of metadata from Douban.
Cover grid: Fix Shift+arrow keys to manipulate selection not working.
Editor snippets: Dont lose the last selected word when the user triggers a non-existent snippet.
Book details popup window: Show the cover size in the bottom right corner if the option to show cover size in the Book details panel is set.
Linux: Fix regression that broke using calibre on some older VNC servers.
Browser viewer: Do not fail if the book contains javascript that has errors.
Linux: Fix file open dialog on older KDE desktops not working correctly.

LIT Input: Fix a buffer overflow caused by malformed LIT files.
Conversion: Expand -epub-writing-mode to -webkit-writing-mode and writing-mode properties for maximum compatibility.
